According to a government statement issued after a meeting of officials chaired by the state Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday, ‘Genome sequencing of 109 samples was done in KGMU (King George Medical University) in the past.
According to the report received, in 107 samples, only the delta form revealed in the second wave of Kovid has been confirmed, while the kappa form of the virus was found in two samples. The statement said that ‘both forms are not new to the state.
Kappa cases got suppressed after Delta: VK Paul
Currently, the daily infection rate is 0.04 percent. On this, NITI Aayog member VK Paul said on Friday that Kappa variant has been found in the country in the month of February-March, but after the arrival of Delta variant, it has been suppressed and now very few cases are being seen. The Kappa variant is not a variant of concern but a variant of interest. He also said that we need to keep an eye on the scientific effect of the kappa variant and the vaccine immunity.
