Chandigarh: Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu alleged that the state is being discriminated against in the matter of vaccine. He said that 17 lakh vaccines come to other states, but Punjab gets the vaccine in installments of 50-60 thousand. He appealed to the Center that Punjab should also get proper vaccine so that people can be vaccinated at the earliest.
The Health Minister of Punjab said, “We are being discriminated against in terms of vaccines, other states get 17 lakh vaccines but we get 50,000-60,000 in installments. We want the Center to do full justice to us too so that we can vaccinate the people of the state early.”
Earlier, with the end of the corona virus vaccine Kovishield in Punjab and the stock of vaccines being left with only one day, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Friday stressed the need to increase their supply from the Center. The Chief Minister’s Office gave this information on Friday. The increase in the supply of Kovid vaccines in the state is also significant as the weekend and night curfew was lifted on Friday and colleges, cinema halls, malls, restaurants, bars and gyms were allowed to reopen for those who have received the vaccine. The Chief Minister, during a review meeting on Kovid, directed the officials to continue working with the Center to increase the quota of vaccines for the state. The CM said that about 83 lakh eligible people (about 27 percent of the population) have already been vaccinated in Punjab. 70 lakh people have been given the first dose, 13 lakh people have been given the second dose.
