He said that India has some big projects in Georgia.
The remains of the Queen of Georgia handed over
During the visit, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar handed over the remains of 17th century Georgia’s Queen Sant Ketevan to the government here. Regarding this, the External Affairs Minister tweeted, ‘External Affairs Minister David Jalkaliani received a warm welcome. I feel privileged to hand over the sacred relics of Queen Ketevan to the people of Georgia. an emotional moment. Saint Queen Ketevan was the Queen of Georgia in the 17th century. who had attained martyrdom. Based on Portuguese records, his remains were found in the Sant Augustin Convent in Goa in 2005. It is said that he was brought here in the year 1627.
Diplomatic Importance of Georgia Visit
The foreign minister’s visit to Georgia has diplomatic significance. His visit is also being linked to the visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to Pakistan in April. In 1991, Georgia was separated from the then Soviet Republic. Georgia is very close to America and does not have good relations with Russia. India has close relations with Russia and Russia’s relationship with Pakistan was negligible till a few years back. No big Russian leader used to visit Pakistan, but recently Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has visited Pakistan. This visit of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has diplomatic significance to show Russia in this way. This visit of S Jaishankar is even more important because Russia has grown closer with Pakistan and China in recent times. With China, it has also expanded the 20-year-old friendship treaty. That too, when there is a dispute between India and China over Ladakh.
