Vaccination campaign has been affected due to lack of vaccine in Gurugram, Haryana. Due to shortage, no vaccine was given at any government center on Sunday. There was also a lack of vaccine for foreign tourists. The Gurugram administration claims that 89 percent of the eligible persons in the district have received at least one dose of the vaccine. But for the last one week, the pace of giving vaccine to people has come to a standstill. There is a huge shortage of vaccine with the health department. There is no chance of any pick-up in the pace for the next few weeks. Haryana government or health department is refraining from speaking anything on this.
Half the vaccine from last week
According to the data of the Health Department, in the week between July 5 and July 11, less than half of the people were given the vaccine compared to the previous week. Last week 1,79,678 people were given vaccine doses but this week only 79,947 people were given vaccine doses. Last week, 1,12,399 people received the first dose of the vaccine, while only 45,951 people received the first dose this week. However, 30,996 people also got the second dose of the vaccine.
Vaccination continues in private hospitals
Due to shortage, no vaccine was given at any government center on Sunday. On Saturday, arrangements were made to give Sputnik V vaccine at government centers too, but on Sunday Sputnik was not given to anyone. However, the vaccine is being given in private hospitals. Gurugram Civil Surgeon Dr Virendra Yadav told that we have shortage of vaccine stock. So in the next few days only we will be able to work on the plan ahead. Now only a day or so will get the second dose of the vaccine. After that the first dose will be our priority.
