Mumbai: Narcotics Control Bureau is constantly engaged in breaking the drug rings spread in Mumbai and surrounding areas. Many operations of NCB are now raising hope among the common people that with the tough stand of NCB, children and youth of their area can be saved from drugs. NCB of Nagpada and Mahim areas of Mumbai carried out 2 different operations in which local people cooperated.
NCB Mumbai’s Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede said, “On July 11, NCB Mumbai launched an operation in Nagpada, Mumbai and seized 1.8 kg of hashish. In this case, an Indian woman has been apprehended from which NCB’s interrogation is going on.” Based on a tip-off, a team from NCB Mumbai conducted surveillance near Nagpada Junction and intercepted a woman named Hussain B. During the investigation, 1.8 kg of hashish was seized from the woman. According to preliminary investigation, the seized hashish had come from Jammu and Kashmir. During the operation it was revealed that the drug mafia is using minor children and women to smuggle drugs. NCB Mumbai is taking legal action by registering a case in crime number 66/2021.
NCB Mumbai Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede said, ‘On July 10, NCB started an operation in Mahim area of Mumbai. Caught a man notorious for drug-related activity. NCB also counseled the children and youth of the area. NCB was receiving a lot of complaints from Mahim residents regarding smuggling of drugs in Mahim area of Mumbai. Acting on the complaint, a team of NCB officials kept a vigil and nabbed Wasim Mohammad Shamim Nagor, a drug peddler, from Mahim beach area on 10 July. Hashish drugs were also recovered from him. The NCB team also found many children and youth on the spot. He was given counseling for the ill effects of drug abuse and his parents were also informed about the situation. Preliminary investigation revealed that a peddler named Wasim was selling narcotics to many young children of the area and gradually making them addicted.
