Chandigarh: Against the attack on BJP leaders in Rajpura, BJP leaders led by BJP Punjab President Ashwani Sharma today staged a sit-in outside Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s residence in Sector-2, Chandigarh.
During a BJP meeting in Rajpura, Punjab’s assembly constituency, farmers had allegedly taken BJP leaders hostage and had a scuffle with a leader. Against this, a delegation of BJP leaders was to go to meet the Director General of Police, Punjab, but instead of going to meet the DGP, the BJP leaders reached outside the Chief Minister’s residence and sat on a dharna.
Accused on Punjab Government
Punjab BJP President Ashwani Sharma alleged that the attacks on BJP leaders are being done at the behest of the Punjab government. He said that the government has failed to maintain law and order in the state. BJP’s second dharna outside the chief minister’s residence in the last 3 months.
Ashwani Sharma said that in the month of March, BJP also staged a sit-in outside the CM residence against the alleged attack by farmers on BJP MLA Arun Narang. At the same time, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh is going to come to his residence in Chandigarh to talk to BJP leaders.
