Kolkata: Suspected terrorists of the three JMB arrested from Kolkata were presented in the Bankshall Court on Monday. After which he has been sent to 14 days police custody by the court. The public prosecutor told the court that the police had recovered a handwritten diary, several jihadi documents, mobile phones and several important documents from the house of the arrested terrorists.
The names and phone numbers of many JMB terrorists were mentioned in the handwritten diary. Most of them are from Bangladesh. The Public Prosecutor also told the court that a leaflet was recovered from their house, where it was written in Bengali – “Banglar Mayder Ranna Ghore Tori Hok Boma” which means, Bomb should be made in the kitchen of Bengali mothers.
Was taken into custody on July 11
The Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police had detained three suspected Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) terrorists on July 11. Naziur Rehman Powell alias Joseph, Rabiul Islam and Mekail Khan alias Sheikh Sabbir were taking shelter in a house. The house was rented with forged documents. The Bangladeshi nationals were living in Haridevpur area of Thakurpukur police station area for the last few months after taking a room on rent through forged documents.
According to sources, the three detained are related to top JMB leader Nahid Tasneem, who is doing business from Kashimpur Jail. He ordered the creation of a new sleeper cell, according to which the arrested group had entered India illegally. It is also revealed that they were funded by Al Amin, the head of the JMB robbery wing. The two detained men used to sell mosquito nets and fruits as hawkers.
Nahid Tasneem was made JMB coordinator in 2010, four years after he was arrested by the police. He set up a robbery wing to collect funds under the leadership of Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami (Huji) leader Al Amin. Both Tasneem and Amin are currently in Kashimpur Jail, from where they do business.
