New IT Rules: Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad has praised the new IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. He congratulated IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav for stressing the need to comply with the new IT rules. In his first post on the indigenous social media app ‘Ku’ on Sunday, the new IT Minister had mentioned that the new IT rules are empowering and protecting users and will ensure a safe and responsible social media ecosystem in India.
Ravi Shankar Prasad tweeted, “The new IT rules are designed to strengthen the safety and security of users against misuse and to redress their grievances, congratulating the new IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav for reiterating this strongly. Twitter has also taken some steps to comply with the new rules.

What are the new IT rules?
The new rules have come into existence from 25 May. Under these it is mandatory for social media companies to set up a grievance redressal system for redressal of user complaints. It is mandatory for all such social media companies whose number of users is more than 50 lakhs, it is mandatory to appoint a grievance officer. Apart from this, these companies will also have to appoint a Chief Compliance Officer and Nodal Contact Person. Some media companies have challenged the new IT rules and the matter is still pending in the court.
Let us inform that soon after taking over the Ministry of Information and Technology, Ashwini Vaishnav had said that those living and working in India will have to comply with the rules of the country. Responding to a question about Twitter not complying with IT regulations, he had said that anyone who lives and works in India will have to comply with the country’s rules.
