Many times there is heavy loss of life and property due to cloudburst incident. But there is always a curiosity in the minds of people that after all, does the cloud really burst? What happens if a cloud bursts? How does a cloud burst? So today we will answer all the questions arising in your mind related to this incident.
Basically, cloudburst is an extreme form of rain. Due to cloudburst, the area has to face heavy to very heavy rains. In the area where the cloudburst occurs, it rains more than torrentially in a very short time.
A flood-like situation is created in the area where cloudburst occurs. The phenomenon of cloudburst is often seen at an altitude of about 15 km from the earth.
The technical term is ‘cloud burst’
In fact, ‘cloud burst’ is used as an idiom for the heaviest rain. It is a technical term. Scientifically it does not happen that the cloud explodes like a balloon or like a cylinder.
If we understand for example, the way a balloon filled with water bursts, then water falls very fast at one place, the same situation is seen in the event of cloudburst. This natural phenomenon is also called ‘cloudburst’ or ‘flash flood’.
when does this event happen
Cloudburst occurs when clouds containing a large amount of moisture gather in one place. Due to this, the water droplets present there mix together. The weight of the droplets becomes so much that the density of the cloud increases. Due to increase in density, suddenly it starts raining heavily.
Why do clouds burst more on the mountains?
Actually, when the clouds filled with water move with the wind, they get stuck between the mountains. The height of the mountains does not allow it to move forward. As soon as it gets stuck between the mountains, the clouds convert into water and start raining. Since the density of the clouds is so high that it starts raining heavily.
How to avoid loss of life and property
Heavy loss of life and property is seen during cloudburst. To reduce the loss of life and property, many suggestions are given by the Meteorological Department. One should not stay on the slopes during the rainy season. In such weather, one should stay in areas with flat land. In hilly areas where the land has cracked, appropriate steps should be taken to prevent rainwater from entering.
