Maharashtra News: After the statement of Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole, the Congress has started doing damage control. Nana Patole had accused Shiv Sena President and state Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and NCP leader and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar of keeping an eye on him. Now the state Congress president said that his statement was presented in a twisted manner. At the same time, other Congress leaders are also dismissing the speculation of any rift in the Maha Vikas Aghadi.
Targeting BJP, Nana Patole said, “Congress is being targeted by BJP in the state. Our statements are being distorted. Congress will become the number one party in the state. Many people were angry with our progress in the state. BJP will bear the consequences of rising fuel prices and inflation.”
At the same time, Balasaheb Thorat, a minister in the Maharashtra government and senior Congress leader, said that the alliance of Maha Vikas Aghadi is strong. There is no crack anywhere. This alliance will continue to work well in the state.
Apart from this, senior Congress leader HK Patil said that the government of Maha Vikas Aghadi is strong and stable. This alliance will complete its term. However, he said that there are some issues which we have put before CM Uddhav Thackeray, which are being looked into. Whenever there are issues, the party’s state unit chief, CLP leader and senior leader Ashok Chavan meets the CM.
What did Nana Patole say?
Nana Patole had claimed that Shiv Sena and NCPP, allies in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), feel that the ground is slipping under their feet due to the growing influence of his party. Addressing a meeting of party workers, he had said that the Congress is re-strengthening itself in Maharashtra and this has caused uneasiness in Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). He had also tried to indicate that the government was monitoring his activities. He had said, “Every morning at 9, an intelligence report is submitted to the Chief Minister and the Home Minister on what is happening in the state. The Congress is reviving itself and the report is shifting the ground beneath their feet.”
