Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Tuesday said that the donations given by private power companies to the Congress have nothing to do with power purchase agreements. He slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Shiromani Akali Dal for their rhetoric on the issue.
AAP on Monday accused the Congress government of Punjab of not canceling the power purchase agreements signed during the previous Akali Dal-BJP government, saying that the present government has taken donations from three power plant companies.
< p style="text-align: justify;"Akali Dal demanded a CBI inquiry into the allegations of taking money from the Congress. The Chief Minister said that unlike the illegal donations made by several illegal companies to AAP and Akali Dal, the donations received by the Congress had nothing to do with the controversial agreements reached by the Akalis.
He said that political donations by some power companies were not given to Punjab Congress but to All India Congress Committee between 2009 and 2014 and it has no relation with the present government of the state.
