Kolkata: The West Bengal government on Wednesday extended the ongoing lockdown till July 30, amid fears by experts about the third wave of the Kovid-19 epidemic in the country. However, some relaxations have also been announced during this period.
A government order said that metro railway services have been allowed to resume with 50 per cent seating capacity, but this permission will not be for weekends. Local train services will remain suspended for the general public.
Public buses, taxis, allowed to operate with 50 percent capacity
These restrictions were imposed on May 16 and were last extended till July 15. The government order states that public buses, taxis, autorickshaws have been allowed to operate with 50 percent capacity. It said that both government and private offices have also been allowed to function with half the staff.
Gyms and beauty parlors will remain open till 6 pm with 50% off
Gyms and beauty parlors can also function from 11 am to 6 pm with 50 percent capacity. Only 50 people will be allowed to attend social functions like weddings. On the other hand, vegetable markets will be able to remain open from 6 am to 1 pm.
