Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi today, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several development projects worth over Rs 1500 crore. Modi’s visit to Varanasi is important in view of the assembly elections to be held in Uttar Pradesh next year. The visit can also be seen as the start of BJP’s assembly election campaign, as the Prime Minister will address a public meeting after the inauguration of the projects. This will be Modi’s first visit to his parliamentary constituency this year.

These include Center for Skill and Technical Support of Central Institute of Petrochemical Engineering and Technology (CIPET), 143 rural projects under Jal Jeevan Mission and Integrated Pack House for Mango and Vegetable at Karkhianv.
At around 12:15 pm, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the International Co Operation and Convention Center – Rudraksh, which has been constructed with Japanese assistance. After this, at around 2 pm, he will inspect the maternal and child health wing of BHU. Prime Minister Modi will also meet with officials and medical professionals to review the preparedness for Kovid-19.
