New Delhi: The Central Government has decided to increase Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central employees and pensioners. The rate of dearness allowance has been increased from 17 per cent to 28 per cent. This increase has been made after one and a half years and it will benefit about 1.14 crore central government employees and pensioners. The hike in DA and DR will put an additional burden of Rs 34,401 crore on the exchequer.
How much will the monthly salary of central employees increase
At present, central employees are getting 17 percent dearness allowance. Now this allowance has increased to 28 percent. For example, if the basic salary of an employee is 20 thousand rupees, then at the rate of 17 percent, DA is getting 3400 per month. Now this DA will increase to Rs 5600. That is, there will be an increase of Rs 2200 in the salary of the month. Similarly, if the basic salary is Rs 50,000 per month, then DA will increase from Rs 8500 to Rs 14,000. That is, 5500 rupees more will be available in a month. This calculation will be applicable from July 1.
Will get increased DA-DR from July 2021
In view of the Kovid epidemic, the government had stopped three additional installments of DA and DR. These installments were due from January 1, 2020, July 1, 2020 and January 1, 2021. This time the arrears will not be paid because for the period from January 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021, the DA / DR rate will remain at the rate of 17 percent on basic pay / pension. The increased rate of DA and DR will be paid from July 2021.
The Union Cabinet has approved the restoration of three installments of DA and DR from July 1. Both dearness allowance and dearness relief will cost the exchequer Rs 22,934.56 crore in the financial year 2021-22 (for a period of eight months from July 2021 to February 2022) and Rs 34,401.84 crore per year.
