Asaduddin Owaisi Exclusive: AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi, who was on a tour of western Uttar Pradesh, termed the ‘Population Control Policy’ proposed by the Yogi government of the state as a decision against the central government. He said that the Modi government at the Center has stated in its affidavit in the Supreme Court in December 2020 that international experience suggests that this will lead to a ‘demographic distortion’. While talking exclusively with ABP News, Owaisi questioned how the Yogi government itself would go against the Modi government.
Women’s abortion will increase
Asaduddin Owaisi further said that if this policy is brought, it will cause a big loss to women because women will have to undergo abortion in case they do not have children. He said that the Law Commission has given a paper on the population policy of the UP government and has sought opinion. We will also write that opinion on behalf of our party and send it to the Law Commission and the UP government.
The AIMIM chief said that we believe that the PFR rate, if we look at the population policy of 2000, has come down from 3.2 without any policy to 2.2 in 2018. How did this come? Secondly, the Modi government said in an affidavit to the Supreme Court in December 2020 that international experience shows that any kind of coercion will lead to demographic distortion.
Article 21 is violated
He said that when the Modi government is ready to disobey, then it is not understood that how the Yogi government is going against the Modi government. The third thing is that it is completely against Article 21. This motion is against the decision of the Constitutional Bench of the Supreme. This will cause a huge loss against the women of UP.
He said that in the national policy, we said that get married at this age. Give a gap after one child. After that we arranged for education. Attacking the Yogi government, Owaisi termed the health system in rural UP as bad.
