The Lieutenant Governor has asked the Delhi government to take a decision on putting the cabinet’s seal on the panel of lawyers suggested by the Delhi Police. The Kejriwal government has called a cabinet meeting on Friday regarding this.
In a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, it has been said that the LG has asked the elected Delhi government to decide on the Delhi government’s cabinet seal on the panel of lawyers suggested by the Delhi Police. Earlier, Delhi Home Minister Satyendar Jain had rejected the proposal of a panel of lawyers suggested by the Delhi Police and made a panel of government lawyers and sent the proposal to the Lieutenant Governor for approval, this proposal was rejected by the Lieutenant Governor.
The Delhi government says that farmers have been demonstrating on the border of Delhi for the last several months against the three agricultural laws made by the central government. Delhi Police has registered several cases against the agitating farmers. The Kejriwal government had formed a panel of lawyers for the fair hearing of the case registered against the farmers. But the Delhi Police, which was probing the matter, made a panel of lawyers and sent the list to Delhi Home Minister Satyendar Jain for approval.
After checking the list of lawyers sent by Delhi Police, Satyendar Jain rejected it. After this, the Home Minister of Delhi made a panel of government lawyers and sent the proposal to the Lieutenant Governor. Which was not approved by the Lieutenant Governor.
According to the information shared by the Chief Minister’s Office, the Lieutenant Governor has asked the Delhi government to approve the panel of lawyers of Delhi Police. After which the Kejriwal government has called a cabinet meeting on Friday.
The Delhi government says that a virtual meeting was held between the Lieutenant Governor and the Home Minister of Delhi, in which the Lieutenant Governor said that the Public Prosecutor appointed by the Delhi government is doing a good job and there is no complaint against the lawyers of the Delhi government.
