The central government has placed the largest order ever to buy the Kovid vaccine. According to the news published in TOI, the government will buy 66 crore vaccine doses worth Rs 14,505 crore. Under this, Covishield and Covaxin will be purchased. The government has assured the Supreme Court in this regard that the availability of adequate vaccine will now be ensured for all. In the affidavit given to the court, the government had said that 135 crore doses would be available between August-December.
30 crore doses of Corvivaccine also
According to the news published in TOI, official sources were told that apart from 66 crore doses, the government has also ordered the Hyderabad-based biological E vaccine. The government has already paid in advance for 300 million doses of Corbivax vaccine of this company. In such a situation, between August-December, the government is estimated to have 96 crore doses. Of these, 75 percent of the dose will be kept by the central government itself and will be given to the states. In the account of the rest of the private sector, 22 crore more doses of Covishield and Covaccine will come.
Production target raised Meanwhile, the target of production of Covishield and Covaxin has been increased. Now in August-December, the total production of Covishield and Covaccine will be 88 crore doses. However, a shortfall of 3.5 crore doses was felt in July. During this period, the production of covaccine has been kept at 38 crore doses. This is slightly less than the number of 40 crores stated in the affidavit given to the Supreme Court. It is reported that the problem in production has been resolved.
Government has ordered five vaccines
According to the report, the government has so far ordered vaccines of five companies. Apart from Covishield, Covaccine and Corbivax, the government has also ordered Sputnik V and Zydus Cadila vaccines. In this way, the government has ordered 135 crore doses so far. In the affidavit filed in the Supreme Court, the Center has said that this year 10 crore doses of Sputnik and 5 crore doses of Cadila will be available. The government has set a target to vaccinate all citizens above 18 years of age by the end of the year. In such a situation, this order of vaccine is being considered very important. According to government data, 39 crore 13 lakh 40 thousand 491 doses have been administered in the country till 7 am on Thursday.
