A Gurugram court has rejected the bail plea of Ram Bhagat Gopal, accused of making inflammatory and communal speeches at a mahapanchayat in Haryana. Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Sagir said in strong words that those who give such communally charged speeches and create confusion, are more harmful to the country than the Covid pandemic.
Rambhagat Gopal is the same person who fired with a pistol during the ongoing protest against CAA-NRC in Delhi. He is a resident of Jewar, Greater Noida. The picture of Rambhagat Gopal with a gun in his hand became quite viral on social media.
What did the court say in the order
The Gurugram Court, while delivering its order on Rambhagat Gopal’s bail plea, said, “Hate speech on the basis of religion or caste has become a fashion these days and the police also seem helpless in dealing with such incidents. Such people who are trying to spread hatred.” Trying, actually doing more damage to this country than the pandemic.”
