Amarinder Singh Vs Navjot Singh Sidhu: Navjot Singh Sidhu met Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi in Delhi on Friday. Meanwhile, Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh has written a letter to Sonia Gandhi. According to sources, the ‘Captain’ of Punjab is angry with the decision of the high command. If sources are to be believed, Navjot Singh Sidhu may get the command of Punjab Congress.
For Punjab Congress, tomorrow i.e. Saturday can prove to be important. All eyes are on the ongoing discord in the Congress camp in the state. In such a situation, it is being said that tomorrow the political battle of ‘Captain’ and ‘Cricketer’ can reach some conclusion. Amidst resentment, Punjab Congress in-charge Harish Rawat will meet CM Amarinder in Chandigarh tomorrow.
At the same time, when Sidhu came out after meeting Sonia Gandhi on Friday, he did not answer the questions of the media. But Harish Rawat, who was present during this meeting, said, “As soon as I get the decision of the Congress President regarding Punjab, I will come and talk to you (media).”
However, he made it clear in these gestures that the command of Punjab would remain in the hands of Captain Amarinder Singh. He said, “The sense of security to the people in Punjab comes only in the Congress government, so people remember Captain Amarinder Singh for peace in Punjab. Whenever people have experimented with Shiromani Akali Dal, there has been unrest in Punjab.”
It is worth noting that for the last few months, there has been open discord in the Punjab Congress. Former minister Navjot Singh Sidhu and some other leaders have opened a front against Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. To resolve the discord in the party, the Congress high command had constituted a three-member committee under the chairmanship of Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge. This committee took the opinion of more than 100 leaders of Punjab Congress including the Chief Minister and then submitted its report to the high command. Recently, Amarinder Singh met Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Sidhu also met former party president Rahul Gandhi.
