New Delhi: Moderna, whose corona vaccine has been approved for emergency use in India, will take some more time to come to India. According to the Ministry of Health, talks are still going on and answers have to come from Moderna on some things. The government hopes that this process will be completed soon, but for the time being, Moderna’s vaccine will have to wait a few more days.
On June 29, India’s Drug Controller General of India allowed Moderna’s Corona Vaccine, made abroad and emergency use authorization, to be given in India. Drug Controller DCGI approved the import and marketing of Moderna’s Corona Vaccine in India to Cipla Company. But even after two weeks have passed, the vaccine has not come yet. According to Dr. VK Paul, Health Member of NITI Aayog, approval has been given but still talks are going on on contract and some things which will take some time.

The company wants some exemption from the Government of India and talks are on about it. At present, the vaccine has got emergency use authorization in India, but by when the vaccine will come, this picture is not clear.
Moderna will be India’s first foreign corona vaccine. Foreign because the clinical trial of this vaccine has not been done in India. For example, the remaining three vaccines are of Kovishield, Covaccine and Sputnik and which have been given emergency use authorization by DCGI, India’s drug regulator. Sputnik is also a Russian vaccine, but its trial has been done in India, after which it has been approved in India.
In April this year, the government had decided that any vaccine that has been approved for emergency use by the US, UK, Japan, European Union or WHO can be applied in India. At the same time, for this, they will not have to do clinical trials as before. According to the Ministry of Health, this vaccine can be kept from minus 25 to minus 15 degrees for seven months.
