New Delhi: There can be a big announcement regarding Punjab Congress today. The discussion of making cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu as the state president of Punjab has intensified. Meanwhile, today Punjab Congress in-charge Harish Rawat is reaching Chandigarh. Where he will meet Captain Amarinder Singh. At the same time, the Captain has expressed his displeasure by writing a letter to Sonia Gandhi.
According to sources, Captain’s letter has been sent to 10 Janpath. The Captain is upset over the prospect of Sidhu being made the Punjab Congress president. The relationship between Gandhi family and Navjot Singh Sidhu is not hidden from anyone. The figure of thirty-six between Captain and Sidhu is also well known. In such a situation, the question arises whether the Captain will rebel against the party. Could there be a breakdown in Punjab Congress? For now, bypassing these speculations, the Congress is telling the party to be united.
Captain Amarinder Singh has the upper hand
On the other hand, sources say that both the camps of Punjab Congress are preparing the list of their respective MLAs. But sources say that at present, if the number of MLAs is seen, then Captain Amarinder Singh has the upper hand. There are about 65 out of 80 MLAs with the Captain, 13 out of 17 ministers in the cabinet are with the Captain. So far only 4 cabinet ministers and 4 MLAs have come openly with Sidhu.
The position of Congress in Punjab is that it can neither deny the importance of Captain nor can it deny Sidhu’s growing credibility. This is the reason why the high command is thinking before announcing the decision on Sidhu. Meanwhile, the stir from the side of the Sidhu camp has increased the concern of the Captain.
Sidhu had a meeting with his supporters in Chandigarh. This meeting took place at the house of cabinet minister Sukhjinder Randhawa. The news came that 4 ministers and many MLAs of Punjab are with Sidhu. The news also came that after Sidhu got the responsibility, all would go to the Golden Temple to bow their heads. Captain Amarinder Singh also got information about these activities, after which the Captain expressed his displeasure about it in Delhi. After this, Sidhu made an appearance in the Delhi Durbar. Sidhu’s supporters started distributing sweets as soon as he returned.
