New Delhi: Amidst the fears being expressed about the third wave of Corona, on Friday, NITI Aayog member Dr. VK Paul, citing a study by ICMR, said that during the second wave, two doses of the vaccine have increased 95 percent among high-risk policemen. Percentage Covid-19 deaths have been prevented. Delta variants are believed to be responsible for the second wave in the country.
The ICMR study assessed the effectiveness of the vaccine among 1,17,524 police personnel in Tamil Nadu. He said that out of these 67,673 policemen had been given two doses and 32,792 had been given one dose while 17,059 policemen were not vaccinated.
Mortality rate in both doses is 0.06 percent
Dr. Paul said that out of 17,059 policemen who did not get the vaccine, 20 died due to Kovid-19, while only 7 such deaths occurred in policemen who took at least one dose. At the same time, 67,673 policemen with two doses of vaccine Of these, only four died. Paul said that in this way the death rate per 1000 policemen who do not get the vaccine is 1.17 percent. The mortality rate was 0.21 percent per 1000 in those taking one dose of the vaccine and 0.06 percent in those who took both doses.
More than 39.53 crore doses have been given across the country
Significantly, a total of 39 crore 53 lakh 43 thousand 767 doses of corona vaccine have been applied across the country. In which 31 crore 61 lakh 16 thousand 189 people have been given the first dose and 7 crore 92 lakh 27 thousand 578 people have been given the second dose of corona vaccine.
