New Delhi: The country’s Home Minister Amit Shah says that after the threat of drones, artificial intelligence and robotic technology can also be used from across the border in the near future. For this, the country’s border-security forces will have to be vigilant and prepare a long-term policy.
Home Minister Amit Shah was addressing the border guards during the 18th decoration ceremony of the Border Security Force (BSF) in the capital Delhi on Saturday. During this, two Ministers of State for Home, Nityanand Swami and Amit Mishra, including Director General of BSF, Rakesh Asthana, besides IB Director, Arvind Kumar and RAW Chief, Samant Goyal were also present.
Referring to the recent drone attacks in Jammu air station and border areas, the Home Minister said that our campaign against drones is very important. DRDO and other indigenous organizations are working on this. Indigenous anti-drone systems will soon be deployed on the border, I believe. According to the Home Minister, frequent hackathon series should be organized for anti-drone technology.
Home Minister Amit Shah, while addressing the Border Security Force (BSF) jawans and their families, said that earlier we did not have an independent defense policy. She was always influenced by foreign policy or foreign policy overlapped with defense policy. But after Narendra Modi’s government came, we prepared a new defense policy. Under this, we want peace with all countries, but if someone violates our borders or challenges our sovereignty, then the priority of defense policy will be to respond in his own language.
The Home Minister said that the country needed a good defense policy, which PM Modi gave. Only by this democracy can flourish and the country will develop. Amit Shah said that we did the work of putting this defense policy on the ground. There is no need to give any example for this, everyone knows very well. The Home Minister presented figures comparing the development works done in the border areas in the last six years of the Modi government with the tenure of the previous government.
According to Amit Shah, about 3600 km of road construction work was done between 2008-2014, while 4764 km was constructed between 2014-20. The budget of border roads also increased from 23 thousand crores to 47 thousand crores during this period. Without naming the UPA, Amit Shah said that about 7000 meters of bridges were constructed between 2008-14, whereas in the last six years, this construction has doubled to 14000 meters.
He said that even in 2008-14, only one tunnel was constructed along the border, while between 2014-20, six tunnels were constructed, while many tunnels are under construction. The Home Minister said that only 230 km of road cutting and formatting work was done on the India-China border between 2008-14, while 470 km of work has been done during the Modi government’s tenure between 2014-20.
border security policy
The Home Minister said that after independence, we got a land border of 15 thousand kilometers and a sea border of about 7 thousand kilometers. In such a situation it was very important that a border security policy was made. But it was ignored for a long time. During the time of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a structure border-policy was formed, under which ‘One Border One Force’ was implemented. He said that PM Modi gave priority to the construction of border infrastructure.
Amit Shah assured that by the year 2022, all the gaps in the fencing i.e. fencing on all the borders, they will all be filled. He said that due to these gaps, border fans have no meaning and infiltrators take advantage of these gaps to infiltrate easily. The Home Minister said that the country whose borders are safe, that nation remains safe. Drones, tunnels, human trafficking, animal-smuggling, narcotics are the challenges before our country but we have to stay two steps ahead of anti-national elements.
Home Minister Amit Shah also honored the brave soldiers of BSF at the decoration ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan. Amit Shah said that he salutes the martyrs who made supreme sacrifice for the security of the country’s borders because the enemy is shaken by the name of BSF. During the program, the Director General of BSF, while enumerating the achievements of the Border Force, emphasized on combating drone strikes, thwarting drug smuggling and infiltration.
Asthana also mentioned the important contribution of the BSF in the creation of Bangladesh and how BSF had given military-training to the liberation-warriors supporting the liberation of Bangladesh before the 1971 war. The BSF DG assured the Home Minister that all the border guards can lay down their lives for the elimination of anti-national elements.
