There was a stir in the Punjab Congress camp on Saturday. Punjab Congress in-charge and senior party leader Harish Rawat met CM Captain Amarinder Singh in Chandigarh today. After this meeting, he tweeted, “I have just returned to Delhi meeting Captain Amarind Singh ji. I am happy that many of the things which are being discussed outside have proved to be completely baseless and Captain Sahab has again reiterated his important statement.
Rawat further said, “In which he has said that whatever decision the honorable Congress President will take regarding the post of President regarding Punjab, that decision will be acceptable to me, I will respect it. Thank you Captain for this wonderful statement.”
Meanwhile, according to sources, the decision of the high command regarding Punjab Congress can be announced on Sunday. According to sources, Sidhu can be made the president of Punjab Congress and four working presidents. A deputy CM was also in the proposal but it may or may not happen.
It is worth noting that for the last few months, there has been an open discord in the Punjab Congress. Former minister Navjot Singh Sidhu and some other leaders have opened a front against Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. To resolve the discord in the party, the Congress high command had constituted a three-member committee under the chairmanship of Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge.
This committee took the opinion of more than 100 leaders of Punjab Congress including the Chief Minister and then submitted its report to the high command. Recently, Amarinder Singh met Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Sidhu also met former party president Rahul Gandhi.
