Farmers Protest: On Sunday, there may be a meeting with the Delhi Police and farmer leaders opposing the three new agricultural laws. According to police sources, in the meeting, the police will try to convince the farmer leaders to give up the insistence of gheraoing the Parliament building. Also, the police can suggest farmer leaders to protest at some other place.
In fact, farmers’ organizations had announced that they would gherao the Parliament House on 22 July. After this, the Delhi Police contacted the farmer leaders. The time for the meeting has been fixed at 11 am on Sunday. At present, the farmer leaders and the police are not disclosing about the venue of the meeting.
Let us tell you that the farmers organization plans that during the monsoon session running from July 19 to August 13, about 200 farmers will protest outside the Parliament every day. The farmers’ organization also announced that identity cards would be issued to farmers participating in the protest outside Parliament.
Earlier, the United Kisan Morcha (SKM) had said that farmers from 22 states would participate in the proposed demonstration outside Parliament from July 22, demanding repeal of disputed agricultural laws and legal guarantee on Minimum Support Price (MSP).
The Sanyukta Kisan Morcha’s call for a Parliament march from July 22 to August 13 has received an overwhelming and encouraging response from across the country, the organization had said in a statement. SKM said that apart from Punjab and Haryana, the demonstrations include Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Farmers of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan will participate in large numbers.
