Police said a group of five people, including the kingpin, were running a blog site. IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that in a massive operation in Jammu and Kashmir, houses and properties were searched at several places including Sanat Nagar and Raj Bagh in Srinagar, Batpura in Hazratbal, Poonch, Hawal in Jammu and Pulwama.
Armed and police forces with search warrants searched the suspected premises and recovered a large quantity of cell phones, digital storage devices and computing platforms, he said. In one house alone, 32 mobile phones, one tablet, two laptops, four hard disk storage devices, seven memory cards and a dongle were seized.
The five arrested were Najeesh Yasrab Rahmani and Tabish Akbar Rahmani from Sanat Nagar, Sofi Muhammad Akbar from Rajbagh, Peerzada Rafiq Makhdoomi from Batpora, Hazratbal and Javed Khalid from Poonch, the IGP said.
It is noteworthy that a blog site named ‘Kashmirfight’ was being run by a white-collar terrorist syndicate whose job was to prepare a hit list of government officials, journalists, social workers, lawyers, political functionaries.
The IGP said the arrest of the gangsters and the discovery of a large number of digital devices and analysis of the data in them is expected to reveal the reason behind the murders of journalist Sujat Bukhari, advocate Babar Qadri and businessman Satpal Nischal.
