New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi will address the virtual meeting of Congress Lok Sabha MPs at 6 pm today before the Parliament session. A day before the monsoon session, this meeting of Congress MPs is considered important. Congress is preparing to surround the government on issues like vaccination, inflation, unemployment besides farmers, JPC investigation of Rafale deal, tension on the Line of Control with China etc.
At the same time, the Center has called an all-party meeting today before the monsoon session of Parliament. The meeting will begin at 11 am in the Parliament Annexe. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also attend this meeting. Such all-party meetings are called before the commencement of the session to ensure the smooth functioning of the House.
Border dispute with China will be a big issue in the monsoon session of Parliament
During the monsoon session, the ongoing border dispute with China will be discussed in both the houses. The opposition parties are demanding a status report from the government on this issue. This became evident when Defense Minister Rajnath Singh met two former defense ministers – AK Antony and Sharad Pawar – on Friday, just three days before the monsoon session. Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat and Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane were also present during the meeting.
Apart from this, the Congress has recently decided to raise the border issue with China in the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament during the Parliament’s strategy meeting chaired by party chief Sonia Gandhi. Earlier this month, the Chinese displayed banners along the Line of Control in Demchok during the birthday celebrations of Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama on 6 July. The soldiers and civilians of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army had come to the other side of the Indus river in the Demchok area of Ladakh.
