Nagaon: The government of Assam has launched a campaign against drugs and drug smugglers in the state. In this episode, on Sunday, the Chief Minister of the state Hemant Biswa Sarma fired a bulldozer on the seized drugs in Nganwa district. The Chief Minister said that he is aware that drugs are sent from Assam to India. He said that it is his duty to cut off that supply line and stop its production.
Earlier on Saturday, as part of the Assam government’s campaign against drugs and to make the state drug-free, seized drugs worth Rs 170 crore were burnt in public functions in four districts of the state. The Chief Minister said that the State Government has adopted a policy of zero tolerance against drug menace and illegal drug trade.

The Chief Minister said on Saturday that 874 cases of drug smuggling have been registered, 1,493 drug dealers arrested and drugs worth Rs 170 crore seized from different parts of the state since the new government assumed power on May 10. Huh.
Sarma, who also holds the Home Department, said that in the last two months, Assam Police seized 19 kg heroin, 14 kg opium, 1,920 kg morphine, 33,014 poppy straw, 8,276 kg ganja, 67,650 bottles of cough syrup, 12,93,000 is. High stimulant pills, Rs 1 crore cash, foreign currency equivalent to Rs 13,630, fake Indian currency worth Rs 6.80 lakh and destroyed cannabis plantations in 31 bighas of land. These confiscated drugs were burnt at public functions in Karbi Anglong, Golaghat, Hojai and Nagaon districts.
The Chief Minister said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Chief Ministers of Manipur and Nagaland have been supporting the Assam government in the fight against narcotics. “Amit Shah has said that drug trafficking, animal smuggling and human trafficking are major problems of the Northeast region, which should be tackled on top priority,” he said. He said that though Assam was earlier mostly used by drug dealers as a transit route, but gradually it emerged as a big market.
CM Sarma said, “Most of the drug smuggling is done from Myanmar. Hundreds of youths are being misled with various narcotics in Assam.” The Chief Minister said that the police have been given full freedom to take strict and decisive action against drug addicts, so that the society can get rid of this evil.
