Priyanka Gandhi Lucknow Visit: On the Lucknow tour, Priyanka Gandhi said on the alliance in the elections that I am not close-minded. She said ‘We are open minded’. Priyanka Gandhi spoke her mind in a conversation with reporters over breakfast. To say, this meeting with the journalists was off the record. But then Priyanka said you can write it. It is from here that the discussion about the alliance between Samajwadi Party and Congress has started.
Till now, it was being said from the party that Congress would fight the elections alone. The party’s state president Ajay Lallu was playing the same record till yesterday. But with the latest statement of Congress General Secretary and in-charge of UP, Priyanka has moved ahead. It is only after a three-day tour that Priyanka has realized that the next fight can be a loss-making deal. Anyway, this time whether the party wins or loses, then it is sure to erupt on them.
One day Priyanka Gandhi had breakfast with journalists. This meeting took place at the house of Naseemuddin Siddiqui, who left the BSP and joined the Congress. So Priyanka met journalists at the dinner of senior party leader Pramod Tiwari’s house. In this meeting, he asked how many seats the Congress would get in the elections? So the answer was found, opening an account is also difficult. On this, Ajay Lallu standing next to him said that we deserve to win 365 seats.
Journalists said this could not happen. Then Priyanka smiled and said that the party people keep telling us that we are in very good condition. After meeting all kinds of party leaders and workers for two days, Priyanka has come to know about the ground reality of the party in UP. That is why now his mind has shifted towards the alliance. Well the experience has not been good. In the 2017 assembly elections, there was an electoral pact between the Congress and the Samajwadi Party. Akhilesh Yadav was the Chief Minister of UP then. But this alliance failed. The Congress could not even cross the tens figure and on the other hand the Samajwadi Party was reduced to 48.
After forming an alliance with Congress and then BSP, Akhilesh Yadav has taken a Bhishma pledge. He has decided not to enter into an electoral alliance with any major party. This time he has made preparations to align with smaller parties.
Talks are going on with RLD, Mahan Dal and Rashtriya Janata Party on the alignment of seats. For Priyanka Gandhi, the road to UP elections is like walking on a double-edged sword. The party does not have its own base vote bank in the state. The quarrel is at its peak even within the party. Some big leaders of Congress are looking for their future in other parties. Priyanka said in a conversation with reporters that all the old leaders will be connected. There will be a synergy of passion and experience. Priyanka told that from next month, she will start visiting the village streets of UP. Congress will work for farmers, youth, unemployed and poor women. UP elections will be the first test for Priyanka. His political future is also related to this.
