T20 World Cup: MS Dhoni has been appointed as the mentor of Team India for next month’s T20 World Cup. Dhoni will be seen in a new role for the first time during the World Cup. The BCCI has claimed that having Dhoni in the dressing room will benefit Team India during the World Cup.
BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal said that India will definitely benefit from Dhoni’s presence. He said, “Dhoni has been a great captain. Under his captaincy, India has won the T20 World Cup, 2010 and 2016 Asia Cup, 2011 World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy. The records are amazing. As a team mentor for the ICC World Cup It’s really great to have him in that form.”
Dhumal has praised Dhoni’s performance fiercely. Dhumal said, “Dhoni is respected by all the players. Bringing him does not mean to underestimate anyone. He has also done a wonderful job.”
World Cup shifted from India
T20 World Cup has been shifted from India due to Corona virus. The T20 World Cup will be held at four venues in the United Arab Emirates and Oman, Muscat, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Last year the World Cup was canceled due to Corona virus.
Dhumal has also broken the silence on the announcement of Virat Kohli leaving the captaincy from the T20 format. Dhumal said, “The board did not ask him to step down. It was absolutely his own decision. Why would we ask him to do so. He was doing a great job.”
