New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on the occasion of Olympic Day that the nation is proud of the contribution of sportspersons representing the country in the Olympics. On this occasion, he also congratulated the members of the Indian contingent participating in the Tokyo Olympics in a series of tweets.
The International Olympic Committee was established on 23 June 1894 in Paris. That is why International Olympic Day is celebrated on this day. This day was first celebrated in 1948.
Modi said, “Today on the occasion of Olympic Day, I appreciate all the sportspersons who have represented India in various Olympic Games. The nation is proud of him for his contribution towards the sport and inspiring other sportspersons.
The Prime Minister said that the Tokyo Olympics is going to start only a few weeks from now. He wished the members of the Indian contingent and said, “Indian contingent has excellent players”.
The Prime Minister also shared a link of a quiz competition related to Olympic Games on “MyGov” app on the occasion and urged the youth to participate in it.
