Osiek (Croatia): Olympic ticketed Indian shooter Rahi Sarnobat on Monday won a gold medal in the women’s 25m pistol event at the ISSF World Cup while youngster Manu Bhaker finished seventh. This is the first gold medal for India in the current World Cup. Earlier, Indian shooters have won one silver and two bronze medals.
The thirty-year-old Sarnobat scored 39 in the final after finishing second in qualifying with 591 points. He scored full points in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth series of the finals. The silver medal went to Mathilde Lamoulle of France, who scored 31 points in the final.

In the qualification, Sarnobat scored a brilliant 296 in the rapid fire round on Monday. He also scored 295 points while performing well in the Precision on Sunday. Bhaker was third in qualifying with 588 points. He scored 296 in rapid fire and 292 in precision.
However, she crashed out of the final with a disappointing 11. She lost in the shoot-off to Victoria Chaka of Bulgaria. Bhaker had earlier won a silver medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event with Saurav Chaudhary. She had earlier won the bronze medal in the women’s 10m air pistol team along with Sarnobat and Yashaswini Deswal.
Earlier, Choudhary had won the men’s 10m air pistol individual bronze medal. This is the last tournament of the Indian shooting team before the Tokyo Olympics.
