Wimbledon 2021: The popular tennis championship Wimbledon made a successful return amid the Corona virus epidemic. On the second day of the tournament, former world No. 1 and eight-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer made it to the second round. But Serena Williams, one of the world’s greatest tennis players, has been out of the tournament due to injury.
Serena Williams had a collision with Aleksandra Sasnovich and suffered an injury in the first set itself. After the injury, Serena had to retire hurt and she was out of the tournament. Serena, however, looked injured before the start of the match and had a lot of tape on her leg. Serena became very emotional after being out of Wimbledon.
Roger Federer, however, had luck in reaching the second round. Federer made it to the second round after his French rival Adrian Mannarino was ruled out due to injury at the end of the fourth set. Federer won the first set 6-4 but lost the second and third sets 7-6 and 6-3 respectively. He, however, managed to win the fourth set 6-2. After a match that lasted two hours and 44 minutes, Federer finally got the victory.
Ashleigh Barty also in second round
World No. 41 Mannarino had slipped past the baseline, injuring him. He also got the knee treated on-court. Federer wished Mannarino a speedy recovery.
World No. 1 female tennis player Ashleigh Barty and 13th-ranked player Karolina Pliskova have made it to the second round of Wimbledon with their victories on Tuesday. While Ashley defeated Carla Suarez Navarro 6-1, 6-7(1), 6-1, eighth seed Carolina defeated French Open semifinalist Tamara Zidansek of Slovenia 7-5, 6-4.
