India missed yet another good chance to win the ICC title in recent years due to the defeat in the WTC final at the hands of New Zealand. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has told the real reason for the defeat in the final against New Zealand. Sunil Gavaskar says that India did not show the necessary restraint in the recently held World Test Championship final against New Zealand.
Gavaskar described the weather on the last day of the WTC final as good for the match. Gavaskar said, "The atmosphere was pleasant on the last day of the match and the sun was also rising. But the Indians who got used to the limited overs match did not show the required restraint in Tests."
Williamson batted well in both the innings
Gavaskar says that batting in Southampton should have been done like Williamson. The former veteran cricketer said, "Williamson showed how a batsman has to play shots in such an environment. He batted like he knows how to play here and that’s how all batsmen should play."
