According to a statement from Cricket Australia, Venuto and Van will join the team to assist head coach Justin Langer ahead of the busy summer schedule. Australia have to play an Ashes series, a Test against Afghanistan and limited overs series against New Zealand and Sri Lanka next season.
They both have experience as batting coaches and will replace Graeme Hick, who was sacked last year as part of Cricket Australia’s cost-cutting efforts.
Di Venuto has played nine ODIs for Australia, he played 336 first-class matches, 302 List A matches and 54 T20 matches in his career of 16 years. He is currently in St. Lucia with the Australian team that went to the West Indies for a limited overs series.
Di Venuto has previously worked with the Australian team as a batting coach. As his coach, Surrey won the county title in 2018 after 16 years. He has also coached the Adelaide Strikers, Hobart Hurricanes and Tasmania. At the same time, Wan played 28 first-class matches and 24 List A matches for South Australia. He has previously been the head coach of Tasmania.
