Former England cricket team captain Alastair Cook says that New Zealand’s team had the upper hand even before the final match of the World Test Championship (WTC) against India last month. He further said that I had already said that the New Zealand team will win the final match.
Cook said, “I said on the basis of facts that the New Zealand team will win this match. The two-match Test series against England was the right preparation for them.” New Zealand had defeated England 1-0 in the two-match Test series before the WTC final, while India got a chance to play only intra-squad matches before the title match.
Cook said, “Intra squad matches are good, but it is not like international matches. The first hour may be competitive, but then it keeps falling.”
Cook feels that declaring India’s playing XI ahead of the final was not a good sign. Regarding India’s five-match Test series with England, he said that the Indian team has some problems with the moving ball which will give England an advantage.
The former captain said, “India is a strong team. But if the ball moves then India can always capitalize on its opportunities. India have a world class batting unit but moving the ball is their weakness.” Let us tell you that a five-match Test series will be played between India and England from August 4. The first Test of the series will be played in Nottingham on 4 August.
