One of the best T20 cricketers in the world, Rashid Khan has got a big responsibility. Rashid Khan has been made the captain of Afghanistan’s T20 team. The Afghanistan Cricket Board has announced the appointment of Rashid Khan as the captain of the T20 team. Najbollah Zadran was declared the vice-captain of the T20 team.
Rashid has earlier also taken over as the captain of Afghanistan’s T20 and ODI team. Under his captaincy, Afghanistan has won six out of 16 ODIs. After the 2019 World Cup, Rashid was made the captain of all three formats. Before the 2019 ODI World Cup, Rashid Khan was made the captain in place of Gulbadin Naib.
But the command of the Afghanistan team in the hands of Rashid Khan did not last long. The Afghanistan Cricket Board has done many experiments in the last few years regarding the captaincy of the team. Asghar Afghan was made the captain in place of Rashid Khan. But the board had sacked him in May this year.
Decision taken in view of T20 World Cup
The Afghanistan Cricket Board says that it has been decided to give the command of the team to Rashid Khan on the basis of his performance. The Afghanistan Cricket Board issued a statement saying, “Rashid has been selected by the Board’s leadership under the chairmanship of ACB Chairman Farhan Yousafzai. Rashid has been selected on the basis of his experience and performance.”
Let us inform that the Afghanistan Cricket Board has decided to make Rashid Khan the captain of the team in view of the T20 World Cup to be held in UAE this year. It has almost been decided that the Afghanistan team will participate in this World Cup under the captaincy of Rashid Khan.
Rashid Khan is known for showing amazing with the ball as well as with the bat in T20 cricket. Recently, in the Indian Premier League and Pakistan Super League, Rashid Khan troubled the big batsmen while bowling very tightly.
