IND Vs ENG: Team India is facing trouble due to the injury of Shubman Gill on the England tour. But now it has become clear that in the five-Test series against England, only Mayank Agarwal will enter the field as Rohit Sharma’s partner. BCCI has refused to send any other player to England as a replacement for Shubman Gill.
On behalf of the team management, there was an appeal to send Prithvi Shaw and Devdutt Padikal to England as replacements for Shubman Gill. But the selectors say that the team should work with the opening options available in England. Apart from Mayank Agarwal, Abhimanyu Easwaran is in England as a reserve player and he can play the role of opener.
According to the report of Times of India, there is no reason for the selectors to send Prithvi Shaw to England. A BCCI official said that Prithvi Shaw was not considered for the tour of England earlier and nothing has changed now.
Mayank Agarwal will open
The BCCI says that the time has not yet come to select Devdutt Padikal in the Test team. It was told from the BCCI that Devdutt Padikal is a good player but he has not done anything so far that he should be given a place in the Test team.
Let us tell you that now it is almost clear that Mayank Agarwal will be seen handling the responsibility of opening the Test series with Rohit Sharma. KL Rahul was also likely to play as an opener. But the team management says that Rahul has been selected as a middle order batsman and he is part of the team’s plan.
Earlier, the BCCI asked Shubman Gill to return to the country from England. Not much information has been revealed about Shubman Gill’s injury, but experts say that he may take three months to recover.
