England Women vs India Women 1st T20I: The first match of the three-match T20 series between India and England will be played at the County Ground in Northampton tomorrow. Indian women’s T20 team captain Harmanpreet Kaur is expected to do well in the T20 series against England. The Indian team had to face a 2-1 defeat in the three-match ODI series. She had won the third ODI after losing the first two matches and would like to start the T20 series by remembering the same performance.
T20 team captain Harmanpreet’s bat was calm in the ODI series and she could not play a single big innings. In such a situation, there will be pressure on him to perform well in the T20 series. In the ODI series, Test and ODI captain Mithali Raj was the only batsman who performed well and scored half-centuries in all three matches.
However, Mithali is not part of the T20 squad, and in her absence opener Shefali Verma, Smriti Mandhana and captain Harmanpreet will be responsible for the batting. India has played 19 T20 matches against England, out of which it has won four matches and lost 15 matches. In England, the Indian team has won only one match out of five.
Harmanpreet blamed the lack of preparedness and injury due to Corona. But she is confident that she will regain her form from the T20 series. Harmanpreet said, “I am someone who likes to work hard and train daily. Due to corona and injury, I did not get time to prepare. However, this is not an excuse.”
He further said, “At the international level you can’t take things easily. After five innings I have understood where I need to improve and how to do it.”
