AUS Vs WI: In view of the preparations for the T20 World Cup to be held in October this year, a five-match T20 series between Australia and West Indies is going to start from July 10. However, the Australian team will take the field in this series without its seven main players. Australian coach Justin Langer has announced that all-rounder Daniel Christian is returning to international cricket with the first T20 match.
Christian won the T20 Blast title in 2017 under the captaincy of Notts Outlaws and led Trinbago Knight Riders to victory in the same year. In 2018, he was a member of Joji Stars who won the Mzansi Super League.
Can make place in World Cup team
In 2019, Christian won the Big Bash League title for Melbourne Renegades. Last year, Christian led Knots Outlaw to another Blast title, followed by Sydney Sixers’ BBL victory in February this year. His most recent T20 stint was with Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.
Langer said, “It’s almost becoming an urban myth, isn’t it? Wherever he plays, we win. He’s so excited, he’s probably a little nervous tonight. Excited to play for Australia again. And I just love watching it. It’s always good to see the energy inside them."
If Christian manages to perform well in the T20 series against West Indies, then he can also get a place in the T20 World Cup squad.
