India Tour Of England: Team India has been hit by the Corona virus on the England tour. The corona report of a team player and a staff member has come positive. Apart from this, three more members have been kept in isolation. But in the meantime, it has been decided to play a practice match against India’s County Select XI from July 20. In view of the increasing threat of corona virus, the practice match will be organized without spectators on the field.
The five-Test series between India and England will begin on August 4. Before the Test series, the practice match is considered very important. On the appeal of BCCI, the England and Wales Cricket Board has decided to organize a practice match. The practice match will be played from July 20 at the Riverside Ground. Durham Cricket confirmed this. “We are pleased to announce that Emirates Riverside will host a practice match between India and the County Championship XI,” Durham County Cricket said in a statement.
The statement further read, “This time the world No. 2 Test team has made Emirates Riversite as their home venue. The team will play a warm-up match against the county from July 20.”
Team India is without backup keeper
There will be several players from the county circuit in the three-day game against the Virat Kohli-led side. Indian team’s wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has been found to be Corona positive and is currently in Isolation. For this reason, it has been decided to hold the practice match without spectators.
Let us tell you that Team India no longer has any backup wicketkeeper for the practice match. Rishabh Pant’s RTPCR test will be done on July 18. If Pant’s two reports come negative, then he can join the team. The remaining three members will also have to go through the RTPCR test to rejoin the team.
