IND Vs SL: Just before the ODI series against India starting on July 18, Sri Lanka has suffered a major setback. Sri Lanka’s star batsman Kusal Perera will not be a part of the series against India. Sri Lanka Cricket Board says that Kusal Perera has been ruled out of the series against India due to injury.
It may take 6 weeks for Kusal Perera to recover from the injury. According to information received from the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, “Kusal Perera is set to be out of the series against India. He has a shoulder injury. The team did not elaborate on the injury. He has not been officially ruled out but the team doctor said that he will have to be out for six weeks.
Kusal Perera showed excellent form in the recently played limited overs series against England. Perera was also the captain of the Sri Lanka team that toured England. But due to a contract dispute between the players and the board, Kusal Perera has been removed from the captaincy. Dasun Shanaka has now been made the captain in place of Kusal Perera.
ODI series will start from 18th July
The Sri Lankan team is not yet final for the limited over series against India. Both the bio bubbles created by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board were broken only last week. For this reason, it was decided to start the series from July 18 instead of July 13.
The Indian cricket team, however, reached Sri Lanka in early July for a series of three ODIs and three T20Is. However, by Friday evening, the whole situation is expected to be clear on the limited over series to be played between India and Sri Lanka.
