Virat Kohli Becomes First Indian to Score 10,000 Runs in T20 Cricket: Virat Kohli has become the fifth batsman in the world and the first Indian batsman to score 10,000 runs in T20 cricket. Kohli achieved this feat in the 39th match of IPL 2021 against Mumbai Indians today. Before this match, the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore needed only 13 runs to reach this point and he scored 10,000 runs in T20 cricket by hitting a six on Jasprit Bumrah.
Kohli, who announced his retirement from the Indian captaincy in this format after the IPL and the T20 World Cup, soon rose to the fourth spot in the list of most T20I run-scorers. He left behind David Warner (10,019).
More runs than Kohli in T20 cricket are now recorded in the name of West Indies’ Chris Gayle (14,275 runs) and Kieran Pollard (11,195 runs) and Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik (10,808 runs).
